The horse (Mistatim in Cree) - is valued by Cree/Métis communities for loyalty, cooperation, and wisdom, and can teach us how to be kind to ourselves, how to be authentically us, by respecting ourselves, and setting good boundaries.
When we interact with horses, we gain feedback on how our body language and inner dialogue can affect ourselves and others, allowing us to make positive change. As a facilitator, I offer programs to bring together people and horses in a way that creates change. I can customize a program to fit your group's needs, youth, women, teams - contact me to explore what I can offer.

HORSES TEACH LIFE SKILLS - WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?
Taanishi, Hello! I am Kim Gullion Stewart, a Métis horsewoman and I am passionate about showing you how learning with my horses can improve your life - yes, this is for you if you are a women's group, youth group, or a business or sport team!
Why learn from horses? Horses are not capable of judging you according to your belongings, success in life, or your cultural group. Instead horses use the core values of safety and honesty to provide feedback on what your body language imparts to others, allowing you to make positive change. Interacting with my horse herd can bring clarity to communication and teamwork, bringing groups closer together as they work together to solve problems.
As a Certified EAL Facilitator at Horses Teach Life Skills, I bring people together with the horses in my herd to work through programs that improve confidence, leadership, empathy, and problem-solving skills. It's horses and people working through principles in a way that can build a life-changing experience. There is no riding involved and you do not need to have any experience with horses.
Contact me and let's talk about the experiences the horses and I can offer you - for a day, a weekend or longer.

BUILD COMMUNITY AND LEARN VALUABLE LIFE SKILLS
HOW DOES MISTATIM TEACH?
Horses are natural teachers, making their family 'herd' safe for all members.
Mistatim is a Cree and Northern Michif word for horse. Mistatim (the horse) does not judge, but has the ability to read and understand human body language and react to what a person is feeling. With the help of a trained facilitator, the horse can provide honest and instant feedback encouraging personal reflection and self-evaluation through fun and exciting exercises.
THE METIS-MISTATIM (HORSE) CONNECTION
Métis horse culture honours the horse as a willing partner, great companion and a mirror
into one's soul.
Mistatim, (the horse) shares an important kinship with our Métis families. In the past, horses pulled Red River carts, carried hunters out to the buffalo fields, and moved belongings from camp to camp. Many families bonded with their horse herds, understanding what a great gift they were. Today, horses can teach us about relationship building, mutual trust, respect and integrity.
MY TEAM AND OUR
CORE VALUES
Horses value honest, safe, and accepting communities.
As a member of the Métis nation, I am passionate about honesty, courage and kindness and I integrate those into my practice. These same core values and more are part of how the horse lives in the world. My horses are my peers; equal partners and team members working together to deepen people's tolerance, leadership, through emotional support as the horse sees it. The horse's ability to react honestly to whomever they see in front of them, combined with their desire to create a safe and healthy community (herd), make them ideal teachers on how to build good community.
